nid
The nid are know for their artisans and historian. They live on the plains. This clan has ties to the sed and the rel. They do not like the nof traders. They are bitter rivals to the jel. Their color is dark orange.
Society: The nid are the cultural trend setters, influencing everything from fashion to the arts. Musically the tir’a have a xylophone type instrument(the jur) that has a metallic resonance that falls within the tir’a hearing range. The tir’a however do not sing. The tir’a also have three different art forms, tattoos, glass works and carving of wood and stone. All clans have tattoo artists and their own distinct artistic traditions. Tattoos for the tir’a tell the life story of the tir’a, similar to the terrestrial New Zealand tribe, the Maori. In the tir’a capital Fol’pod, nid tattoo artists are sought after. The mineral composition of the sands of Va’annu have lead to the a distinct incandescent glass that nid artisans have created into elaborate drinking flasks and beads used in ornamentation. The wood and stone carving of the nid include traditional animal totems and abstract designs. The literature of the tir’a are the traditional courtly epics of the legends and heroes, and the modern styling of everyday life.
Clan Head: Ada’usa Guth Nicn nid Va’annu is a male poet who uses the courtly language to talk about every day life of the tir’a. He is a friend to the current emperor. Ada’usa Guth Nicn is a bit of a playboy and tends to sneer at tradition. Artists of his school, from all clans, tend towards a modern aesthetic.
Legend: The nid are frequently historians for the Emperors. The historians of the clans select the Emperor’s historian for an unbiased accounting of the Emperor’s actions. During the reign of Va’anaris I, Messu Weth Shuir nid Va’annu was selected to tell this history of the first female emperor. He began the official history with the objective eye of all historians. He fell in love with his subject, for Va’anaris I was a charismatic and strong leader. His history soon seemed more like the courtly love poems that the nid are known for rather than an impartial history. This had caused the nid to fall out of favor as historians for a time.
