The Night of Blood is the human translation of the tir’a name for the night of the attack by human colonists (mostly miners) on the tir’a settlers on the planet M-1801, also known as “Rogue”. A majority of the tir’a were caught off guard by the ferocity and suddenness of an attack. More than 1000 tir’a and nearly 100 human miners were killed that night.
Many of the tir’a survivors were rounded up and used a slave labor in the mines for the duration of the war. Children and other survivors too weak to be useful in that regard were shipped off the “interment camps” on various other worlds. Though some of these camps were liberated before the end of the war, many tir’a children spent the duration — eight long years — knowing nothing but the deprivations of the camps.
